Wedding Ceremony for
                                       Peter Marshall & Amy Alexander
                                    Wednesday, June 18, 2003, 1:30 P.M.
                                               La Jolla, California

Welcome to the wedding of Peter Marshall and Amy Alexander.  I want to thank everyone for coming
and especially to thank Amy's mom Carin, for riding shotgun on this ceremony – even though this is
NOT by any stretch of the imagination - a shotgun wedding.
We're gathered to share and to celebrate the union of Peter and Amy, who came here today to begin
a new and exciting life together – a life where finally, they will become husband and wife legally.
And why get married when the shame of living together has all but disappeared from our culture?
And, who has time today to get married, anyway?  We're all too busy: We've got our careers, our kids,
car pools, our E-mail to answer, and our SPAM to delete.
So, what does it mean when two people decide, after living together as husband and wife for seven
years, to take the big step and actually become husband and wife?  Well, it means a lot,  precisely
because they don't have to.  It means they're finally ready to make a permanent commitment to each
other that is legal and binding.  It means that the powerful forces of love that first brought Amy and Peter
together are still powerful even after seven years.  And today, besides uniting Peter and Amy as
husband and wife, we're officially uniting Peter, Amy, and their children Damian and Maya as a family.

                                                                      DISCLAIMER:
Now we come to the time in the ceremony where things start getting legal.
First of all, if there's anyone here who thinks that Peter and Amy should NOT be married, please step
forward so I can push you into the ocean.
And now Peter and Amy, it's time for some vows – so this is your last chance to chicken out.  Do you
want to chicken out?  No?  Is that your final answer?  Okay then, let's state some vows.
                                                                            VOWS
Do you, Peter take Amy to be your lawful wedded wife, your loving friend, and your strength in times of
weakness?  Do you promise to share your dreams with her, your desires, and your love?  Do you
promise to cherish her, protect, and provide for her needs as best you can from this day forward, and
do you promise to love her, comfort, honor and keep her in sickness and in health and forsaking all
others, as long as you both shall live?  (I do.)
Do you, Amy take Peter to be your lawful wedded husband, your loving friend, and your strength in
times of weakness?  Do you promise to share your dreams with him, your desires, and your love?  Do
you promise to cherish him, protect, and provide for his needs as best you can from this day forward,
and do you promise to love him, comfort, honor and keep him in sickness and in health and forsaking all
others, as long as you both shall live?  (I do.)
                                                                    Ring Exchange
Peter and Amy, your wedding rings are the outward visible sign of an inner spiritual bond that unites
your hearts as one in endless love.  May these rings be an enduring seal of the vows in which you have
pledged your most solemn and sacred honor.
                                                                          RINGS
Peter, place this ring on Amy’s finger and repeat after me: With this ring I thee wed.  I promise you my
strength, my flexibility and my enduring love.
Amy, place this ring on Peter's fingerand repeat after me : With this ring I thee wed.  I promise you my
strength, my flexibility, and my enduring love.

                                                                PRONOUNCEMENT
Amy and Peter, you've have made promises to each other,  have declared your everlasting love by
the exchanging of rings,  and have pronounced yourself husband and wife in front of your friends,
family, and children.  May your friendship grow even stronger.  May your days be filled with sunshine.
May you continue to give each other joy, happiness, and love, for the rest of your lives.  And may God
bless this union.
And now, by the authority vested in me by the State of California, I declare your marriage valid and
binding and rejoice to recognize Peter and Amy Marshall as husband and wife.  And I also pronounce
Peter, Amy, Damian, and Maya Marshall to be a family officially. You may now kiss.  ***
